question Marvin's grandchildren
« Thread started on: Aug 7th, 2010, 11:16pm »

I know Marvin has two known grandchildren. Of those two, I wonder if any of them even have a slight interest in the music biz. I think Marvin IV is 15 and Nolan is 13 (if he's not yet already). I just wonder about them and their future. Could they try to take up what their grandfather left or preserve their grandfather's music in a way. I know Nolan knows about his grandfather but I wonder if the boy who shares his grandfather's, father's and great-grandfather's namesake does he know about his grandfather... stuff that I just ponder about sometimes lol

I think it's hard for them NOT to know about their grandfather. I would hope that at least one of them would maybe dabble in the music business kinda like how Nona did. Marvin IV would have a TON of pressure heaped on him since he bears his Grandpa's name but I guess it adds an element of working hard to be your own man. Truthfully from what I hear of the parents I think Nolan is in a more supportive household and would probably be encouraged to get into the business if he so chose.

Marvin IV on the other hand is given no favors with the way his father is conducting his life.

"shrug"

Still it would be cool to have one of them try to step in their grandfather's shoes. They often say that true top of the cream talent skips a generation so they're both have that in their favor.

Yeah. Me personally I think Nolan would probably be the next one to take after his grandfather. Marvin IV's father is definitely a kooky one. undecided So who knows what he would do? He'd probably choose privacy. But I'm sure in the future he'll try to preserve his grandfather's memory.

What you guys think of this?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2419772/X-Factor-hopefuls-Roxxy-Montana-granddaughters-legendary-soul-singer-Marvin-Gaye.html

I find it interesting the girls haven't said anything but the Daily Mail is claiming this. Don't know what to think.

Maybe they're not granddaughters but grandnieces. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if that was the case. But they claim Detroit? That's what got me shaking my head because I know the Gaye family have ties to Kentucky (R&B singer Donnie is Marvin's second cousin), North Carolina, Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles (and Massachusetts, I think, in the case of Janis, Nona and Frankie C) but this caught me off guard...

So does that mean they're NOT related at all?

Yup. Plus they're from Detroit and none of Marvin's kids ever lived there besides MG III until he was six.
