xx Troy Davis -- Marvin Gaye's Road Manager ?
« Thread started on: May 23rd, 2013, 1:02pm »

A guy called Troy Davis got to know Jerry Williams (Swamp Dogg) in 1966 when he was the roadie for Ben E. King and several other hit acts. In the early 70's, Troy was appointed road manager for Doris Duke and he co-wrote many songs with Swamp Dogg. Swamp says he was a nice guy who preferred being a con man to enjoying minor success by doing things right. Swamp thinks he originally was from Baltimore.
... LATER ON ... a guy called Troy Davis worked (mid 80's) in a recording studio up in Hartford (Conn) and this guy was telling people he had been Marvin Gaye's road manager for a spell. This guy said he came from outside DC.
Sounds like the same guy to me (same name & similar music biz skillls).
Anyone here have knowledge of a Troy Davis being Marvin's road manager and if so for what period ?
Seems the Troy Davis that worked with Marvin got in trouble for licensing some MS track's out without the proper authorisation.

Hmm, that's interesting. I never heard of a Troy Davis working for Marvin... unless it was mentioned in David's book and I skipped over it.
