I'm on the song "Wall St. Village Day", which is from the Four Seasons' album "Genuine Imitation Life Gazette". This album had subject matter that prototyped Marvin's "What's Going On". And, just as Motown tried to keep Marvin from having "W.G.O." released, the Seasons fought a bitter battle with their label, Philips, to have "G.I.L.G" released. The album got released, but failed miserably. Over 40 years later, this work would be more appreciated by fans and critics--like Marvin's "Here My Dear"!

I got Smokey's first solo album--I downloaded the first nine songs from his "Solo Albums, Vol. 1". I'm on the song "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?". Motown ought to be ashamed of themselves for keeping Smokey's albums out of circulation for so many years! His early solo efforts were the best in his career!

I just put Joe Cocker's first album on the stereo. "Feeling Alright" is playing as I type this. It has always been my all-time favorite song from Joe--wish Marvin had done a version of it!

Well, it's snowing in my neck of the woods! I'm enjoying a mug of hot cocoa with marshmallows, some cherry Pop Tarts, & listening to Marvin's "When I'm Alone I Cry", "Hello Broadway", & "Tribute To Nat King Cole". Also, taking the last two places in my 5-disc changer are Garth Brooks' "Ropin' The Wind" & "No Fences".

Last non Marvin Gaye song I listened to that caught my ear was Al Green's version of "My Girl". I think it's just as good as the original. It's a bit different in tone and feel but it's so very good!

Today is my birthday--I'm no.35! My dad gave me "The Motown Box", & I'm listening to the extended stereo remix of Marvin's "Pretty Little Baby"! It's pure listening euphoria! I love it!

Remembering our hero on his 72nd birthday. I'm listening to the Japanese re-releases of "Moods Of Marvin Gaye" & 1964's "Greatest Hits".

I'm getting ready to see "The Dark Knight Rises", & in remembrance of the people who were killed/injured in the shooting at the Colorado theater, I've got Marvin's rendition of "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" on the stereo. I LOVE superheroes, & that shooting won't keep me from seeing Batman's last go-round on the silver screen!

Boy, look at all the cobwebs & dust in this thread--& it isn't Halloween yet! I've fallen in love with the group The Grass Roots, & I'm listening to their 1967 hit, "Let's Live For Today". I loved singing along to this song on the "golden oldies" radio station as a kid, due to its catchy chorus: "Sha-la-la-la-la-la live for today/And don't worry 'bout tomorrow, hey-y-y". Oh, and the album version of the song is WAY more awesome than the single version due to the chorus being extended for 12 extra seconds before the fade! I love that!

It's my birthday today! Would you guys believe I'm all of 37 years old? I just downloaded ALL of The Association's albums off iTunes, and decided to start things off with the band's 1968 album "Birthday" & my favorite song from the album (it's also my all-time favorite), "The Time It Is Today"! Wish the 60's Marvin had sung this--it could have been a good live number for him.

It's that birthday time, again! I downloaded all of Marvin's songs from the "Motortown Revue" box set--it's a collection of all the "Motortown Revue" live albums--and I'm listening to "Pride & Joy", from a 1963 or 1964 show at the Fox Theater. Marvin was awesome--he even had the audience to sing along with him!

Right now, it's Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention's "We're Only In It for the Money", but on April 2, at midnight, it'll be "What's Going On" the 40th anniversary set! smiley
