Marvin was definitely a man of many talents...

correct me if I'm wrong, but isn'nt that Duke Fakir of the Four Tops in the very first pic in the background.

Yep that's "Duke". smiley

I heard Marvin played guitar but I wasn't sure. I kept seeing it in various biography bits. One biography had him linked as a singer, piano and guitar player, lol.

lol that's Duke lookin cool in the background..luv me some Four Tops.

I've never seen some of these pics of Marvin especially him playing guitar, actually I never knew he played guitar.

It was probably a typo, lol. But it looked like he learned clarinet and we know he's a bad-ass percussionist (the Montreux 1980 performance).

The most amazing thing about it all is that Marvin had NO formal training. Everything he learned was by ear. The guy just had a knack for picking up new abilities.

I wouldn't say he was great at playing all those instruments but i'd say he was best as a piano player. At times he'd come off a bit hamfisted on the keys but more often then not he did an amazing job.
