I just saw this clip! Marvin & Tammi totally ROCKED! It has been said that a great deal of Johnny's shows from the 60's were disposed of, erased, etc.--but that clip is evidence these shows still exist in some form or another!

I agree. There is so much footage locked up that it's insane. I was recently on this national footage database that had tons of old footage of artist from back then. Obtaining it was easy, but it was for research purposes only, not for collectors or sale. Why can't we have any of the rare stuff, seriously who are they guarding it for? lol grin we have to wait for years to see something new, this time I waited about two years. I'm also pretty sure that the Johnny Carsons are easy to get now that they are selling them through informercials, but it's probably just like the Soul Train DVDs, where they only give you the best of SOul Train. WTF I want all of Soul Train!!!!. What a disappointment that was.

What is the name of this database, & can you watch the footage on it, too?I once read that a great deal of TV programs, specials, etc. that were once thought to be lost & gone forever have been discovered in recent years. It's all a matter of TV stations, producers, & the like doing some "spring cleaning" in the archives & finding such lost material by chance. But you may be right about the Carson shows pitched on informercials being "best ofs" rather than the entire shows. I remember when the specials of "Ed Sullivan" were being shown, they never showed footage of Marvin's only appearance in 1966. That was finally shown in its entirety 10 years ago on a VH-1 show spotlighting music artists' "Ed Sullivan" appearances ("Rock & Roll Classics", I think it was called). It's on DVD, but I don't have it because it's not one exclusively featuring Motown artists.

Wow that was some rare stuff! I never knew Marvin and Tammi were on Carson. Anyone know if Marvin made other appearances on Johnny Carson?

There are tons of Databases out there holding footage, just to name a few...

Reeling In The Years Production (at least they release theirs once in a while)
http://www.reelinintheyears.com/search/index.php

Historic Films (full Ed Sullivan Shows and Other Variety Shows)
http://www.historicfilms.com/

Research Video Inc. (from every genre of music)
http://www.researchvideo.com/footage-galleries/music-footage-galleries.html

Global Image Works (they are the ones who chopped up soul train like that)
http://www.globalimageworks.com/

Just give some of these places a look, and you'll see that there are sooo much unreleased footage out there. Only a few like Global Image will let you preview it. Others, like I mentioned before, want you to be in the entertainment industry to request footage; for research purposes only.
Fans and collectors are out of luck, unless they lie about it, which will probably get them in trouble or something once they find out that they are not legit big producers/directors.

Had to bump this due to some bad news regarding this video. I was just on You Tube, adding some new videos to my "favorites" playlist, and found out that the Marvin & Tammi one was set to "private"--now we can't see it anymore! Guess some copyright vulture swooped in and tried to swipe it! It broke my heart to have to delete it from my playlist!
